Edinburgh’s Academy of Music and Sound have set up a Music Business Apprenticeship scheme to scout for the best Scottish singers and songwriters.

It’s in conjunction with UK-wide company Daylight Music, who have an A&R office in Edinburgh.

“We are looking for a one-off original voice: the kind that is immediately identified as a unique sound, in the same way as there is only one Paolo Nutini, Annie Lennox, Frankie Miller or Shirley Manson. We are determined to find a stand out artist,” said Tim Powell-Morris, Daylight Music’s MD. “We are also actively searching for great songs, and that means finding great songwriters.”
