Emma Pollock and Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor share top billing at Eastern Promise 2016 – a two-day festival taking place at Easterhouse arts venue Platform
The venue is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary and with the sixth annual Eastern Promise festival across two stages on October 7 and 8 it follows up an annual tradition of bringing big names such as The Vaselines, The Monochrome Set, To Rococo Rot, Ela Orleans, King Creosote and Mike Heron to Glasgow’s East End.
Also on the lineup are (Friday): new Song, By Toad signings Modern Studies, Phantom Band mainman Rick Redbeard in solo mode, Spinning Coin (Edwyn Collins and the Pastels faves who feature former Yawns singer Sean Armstrong) and Gaelic electronica act Whyte.
Saturday’s lineup features Thrill Jockey duo Grumbling Fur, Hen Ogledd – folk singer-songwriter Richard Dawson and Welsh free harpist Rhodri Davies – The Flexibles (Richard Youngs, his son Sorley and Andrew Paine, whose debut album Pink Everything is released by Glasgow’s increasingly essential Night School Records), plus Bristol experimental pop trio Snails
Tickets will cost £10 per night or £15 for both nights and as ever a bus will be available to transport city-centre dwellers to the heady East End. More at platform-online.co.uk
