BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend music festival for 2014 is to take place in Glasgow on the weekend of May 23rd – 25th.

Paolo Nutini – who also appeared at the 2006 version in Dundee – and Rita Ora, are the first headliners for the event, which will offer passes to 60,000 music fans for the free event, which will be staged on Glasgow Green.

In the leadup to the event, the Radio 1 Academy is also coming to the city, from 10th – 16th May, with the aim of encouraging local 16-19-year-olds to attend a series of radio shows, masterclasses and Q&As from Saturday 10 – Friday 16 May.

More details on acts appearing and the ballot for tickets will appear in March, with a BBC Radio One website also online.
