Frightened Rabbit, Admiral Fallow and Rachel Sermanni are the nominees in Creative Scotland’s annual awards music category.
The prize, which will “celebrate the achievements of an individual or group who capture the sound of Scotland, whose achievements and output have played a significant part in the soundtrack of 2012”, will be awarded at a lavish ceremony at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery on December 13th.

The event will recognise various artists in other categories with the likes of alt.ballet composer Michael Clark, rock-minded author Alan Bisset, and Cora Bissett (no relation) and Swimmer One for new musical play Whatever Gets You Through the Night.

Nominees will, apparently, receive tickets to the inordinately expensive black tie bash, which has been much criticised by just about everyone in the arts world in Scotland, with plans afoot to organise a lower-key, competing party already afoot.
