Celtic Connections, which will take place in Glasgow between Thursday 19th and January and Sunday 5th February next year, has announced its lineup, which in stretching the term ‘celtic’ to previously unimagined levels, makes for an impressive lineup.

Highlights include: a Rab Noakes-curated Gerry Rafferty tribute featuring Emma Pollock, Jack Bruce, The Proclaimers, Ron Sexsmith, Maria Muldaur and Barbara Dickson who, let’s face it, really needs Ronnie Corbett to introduce her.

There are Chemikal Underground and Rock Action nights at Brel, an O2 ABC show from a reformed Big Dish, and a lineup of individual shows which ranges from Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy to Bruce Hornsby – there’s Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadler with Jo Mango, Cornershop, Fencies Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains, Justin Currie, Unthanks, Admiral Fallow, Dick Gaughan & June Tabor, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Bridget St John, Mull Historical Societywith Washington Irvine, Laura Viers, and probably loads of other stuff we’ve missed (couldn’t see Frog Pocket listed but am sure he must be in there somewhere).
