TRNSMT Festival has been delayed by two months in an attempt to ensure that the delayed event can go ahead as Covid restrictions are eased in the second half of the year.

The Glasgow Green three-day fest, already postponed from 2020, was due to take place from July 9-11, but will now be held from September 10-12.

The 2020 festival retains roughly the same lineup as its initial incarnation, with headliners The Courteeners and Liam Gallagher, but with Lewis Capaldi being replaced by The Chemical Brothers.

Geoff Ellis, head of promoters DF Concerts, said: “We had initially hoped for the festival to take place in July as planned, but a combination of the timetable to exit lockdown and the preparation time needed to put on an event of TRNSMT’s scale means this wasn’t possible.

“September gives us the opportunity to put on the best festival we can for our fans after such a long time without any live music, and we will, of course, work with all relevant authorities to ensure we follow any guidelines that may be in place in September.”

Also added to the bill are Primal Scream, plus Dermot Kennedy and Becky Hill and more. Although Lewis won’t be joining us this year, we’re pleased to confirm he will be back to play TRNSMT in July 2022.”

We’d like to thank fans for their patience and support over the past year, and we hope to see them in September as TRNSMT comes home to Glasgow Green.”

Saturday headliner Liam Gallagher said: “Brothers and Sisters, can’t wait to get up to Glasgow TRNSMT and blow your minds. It’s been far too long. C’mon you know LG x”
