King Creosote was forced to curtail his gig at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on Saturday night following PA problems.

A persistent crackle coming through the speakers at the Lothian Road venue saw the Fence Records supremo make several attempts to continue with the gig before finally admitting defeat.

However, the singer-songwriter – performing most recent album ‘Ides’ with a seven-piece band in one of his largest shows in recent years – did perform a few acoustic numbers, taking a few of his backing musicians on a tour up and down the aisles and giving some lucky punters an up-close-and-personal performance.

Mike Melville, of the Manicpopthrills website, also reviewed the show for isthismusic.com, and reported how Emily Barker had already suffered from sound issues during her half-hour support slot, despite being a solo act with just acoustic guitar.

The review goes on to tell how Creosote aka Kenny Anderson “handled the situation as well as anyone could have,” adding that the band finally left the stage to a standing ovation.

Promoter Regular Music posted an apology for the sound issues on social media, adding that while refunds would be made available, a rescheduled show will be announced – originally reported to be on December 7th, King Creosote later announced: “what will now be a Special Christmas Show on Monday 23rd December”.
