Marion Scott, presenter of the alternative / indie music show on Moray Firth Radio, has left the station, having been given no alternative but to leave following a rebranding exercise.
The Inverness-based station is adopting a programming schedule more in line with its sister Bauer Media stations nationwide, meaning that there is no longer room for any non-mainstream music.
Describing herself as “heartbroken”, Marion confirmed that the station will now feature “No local bands, no unsigned acts, no acts from Scotland except Primal Scream and the like, no album tracks, no obscure classic tracks, no debut singles…”
Over the years many bands have called in for sessions and interviews including Frightened Rabbit, Miles Kane, Admiral Fallow. RM Hubbert, We Were Promised Jetpacks, and Kid Canaveral.
The presenter has been with the station since was 17 years old, but recently returned to the station, having been off on maternity leave, to be given the news.
However, she states that she has plans to continue to showcase the music she loves – watch this space…
The MFR Sunday slot will now be occupied (conveniently) by the MFR “One to Watch” winner – followed at 10 by a former Big Brother contestant.
