The Scottish Music Industry Association has appointed a new chairman as well as three more board members.

The trade body – founded in 2008 to lobby on behalf of Scotland’s music business – now has Dougal Perman as its chair. Perman is founder of digital content creation company Inner Ear as well as previously being in charge of digital radio station radiomagnetic.com.

He’s joined by new board members in BBC Scotland’s Sharon Mair – responsible for the station’s music output – Blake Hutchinson, who is a senior executive with Scottish Development International, and from Ticketmaster/Ticketweb, director of business development, Gillian Henderson.

The new directors will work alongside existing board members Vic Galloway, Greg Kane, Michael Lambert, Claire MacKay, Lisa Whytock and Alex Smith

A SMIA statement read: “With such great new additions, we are looking forward to continuing to work with our members to strengthen and champion Scotland’s music industry.”
