The Labour party are calling for a Midge Ure show at Glasgow’s O2 ABC to be cancelled, claiming it breaks electoral law. The show, scheduled to take place tonight, Thursday April 26th, is a free gig whose capacity audience have all signed up for tickets via the SNP website. Support comes in the form of Lou Hickey, most recently spotted fronting the Codeine Velvet Club with Jon Fratelli.

However, Labour claim the former Ultravox, Slik and PVC2 singer will be “treating” those in attendance, a practice forbidden by the Representation of the People Act.

The audience members may also, it’s claimed, be guilty according to the 1983 regulation, and face a fine of up to £5000 or a year in jail.

The SNP have denied that the show is illegal and have insisted that it will go ahead.
