Dougie ‘Caledonia’ MacLean is the main attraction in a St Andrew’s Day celebration of Scotland’s “ceilidh culture”.

MacLean will be joined by Admiral Fallowfrontman Louis Abbott, for an event which will take place in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket on November 30th. Leading traditional groups Blazin’ Fiddles and Braebach are also on the bill.

The free show is one of several which will take place on the St Andrew’s weekend with other happenings in Oban, Perth, Glasgow and St Andrews itself. The whole programme is part of a £350,000 Scottish Government-sponsored celebration.

The Grassmarket event is programmed by Unique vents, who have already booked a variety of home-grown acts to perform alongside the Pet Shop Boys on Hogmanay including King Creosote, The Rezillos, Django Django and Chvrches.
