Music outreach organisation Live Music Now Scotland is heading to Glasgow to
seek out the best of Scotland’s emerging professional rock, pop, indie and Jazz musicians.

The charity supports up-and-coming bands and musicians at the start of their careers by providing them with paid performance opportunities in venues they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to play.

There are currently 32 bands and ensembles on the Live Music Now scheme in Scotland, including pop and rock groups, singer-songwriters, a jazz quartet, operatic singers, classical chamber ensembles and Scottish traditional music groups. This includes Stirling-based pop band Miniature Dinosaurs who successfully auditioned in February 2010, given over 60 performances and workshops. Singer Barry McLean said of the scheme: “We’d recommend it most highly for any bands who, like us, are starting their gigging careers and keen to get as much experience playing together as possible.”

AUditions take place at Film City on Wednesday 13 June – but the closing date for applications is Mon 14 May. More info is available at www.livemusicnow.org
