KT Tunstall and Kyle Falconer out of The View are among close to 70 acts confirmed to perform as part of the Sofa Singalong 24 hour online festival, set up by Luke La Volpe, which aims to raise money for small venue struggling during the current lockdown.

The fundraiser for the Music Venue Trust was started by West Lothian musician Luke La Volpe, who kicked off the #SofathonSingalong series on Wednesday 18th March with a free live show, performed on his mum’s sofa in Bathgate and streamed to fans on Instagram Live.

Up-and-coming Glasgow singers Stephanie Cheape and kitti were first to join the movement, followed by Greenock act Black Dove, who will support La Volpe at a rescheduled King Tut’s gig on 4th September.

In the following two weeks, KT Tunstall and Kyle Falconer signed up to perform, as did Lucia and the Best Boys, Walt Disco, Medicine Cabinet, Neon Waltz, The Ninth Wave, Kitti, Kerri Watt, Swim School, The Howl & The Hum, Prose, Zuzu, HYYTS, and Hunter and the Bear among others.

Luke La Volpe will play three sets during the marathon event, starting on the Gigs In Scotland Facebook page at midnight on Friday 3rd April, then at midday on The Glasgowist Facebook page and closing the show from 11.30pm on the King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut Facebook page.

Full lineup and times can be found @SofathonSingalong on Facebook and Instagram.

“Me and the band had to announce that our sold out King Tut’s gig in May has moved to September,” said Luke la Volpe, “which is a bit disappointing but obviously for the best in the circumstances.

“It’s going to be really hard for grassroots venues over the next few months and we want them be able to carry on when we come back. We decided to use my live-streamed gig from home to tell people about the Music Venue Trust, which gives these places a load of help and advice.

“It’s crazy what you can achieve when you’re sat at home on the sofa with nothing else to do.”

Artists who want to take part can do so without being nominated – all they have to do tp join in with #SofathonSingalong is:
Set up a live stream on Instagram, Facebook or YouTube channels.
Play some songs!
Promote the Music Venue Trust’s #FIGHTBACK crowdfunder.
Nominate three more artists to join in.
