Legendary Glasgow rock photographer Harry Papadopoulos has his work showcased in an exhibition which opens this week in Glasgow. ‘What Presence!’ runs from 17th December until 25th February 2012.
Street Level Photoworks displays his work, which covers over 30 years of photography, starting from before his professional career beganas a stafffer with Sounds from 1979 to 1984. This period covered shots of the likes of Blondie, David Bowie; the Associates, Devo, Joy Division, Bryan Ferry, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Birthday Party and The Clash, as well as Altered Images,and various Postcard acts who visited Harrys London flat when in the city. (He also appeared in Derek Jarman’s video for the Orange Juice single ‘What Presence’).
The exhibition, on Glasgow’s Trongate, is co-curated by former Bluebell (and now Stow College lecturer) Ken McCluskey. More details here.
