Dundee record shop Groucho’s is, after much speculation, to remain open.
Owner Breeks Brodie has announced that the shop, which has been a fixture in the Dundee music scene for over 40 years, will not be closing in the near future as feared.
Last September the building’s landlord moved to sell the premises, with a deal being concluded a couple of months later.
However, the new landlord has agreed to extend Groucho’s lease by five years, giving a stay of execution to at least August 2024
Brodie has still an interest in selling the shop – pointing out that having run the business since the age of 22 he is now a pensioner, and health concerns mean he is keen to retire if a buyer can be found.
