Warmduscher, Kaputt and Swim School are among the acts who will play at the first-ever Great Eastern festival, taking in place in Edinburgh on May 9.

The one-day, multi-venue event follows up the similarly-named Great Western, which took place in Glasgow last November with The Pastels, Sacred Paws, Dry Cleaning, Cass McCombs. Chk Chk Chk and Malcolm Middleton among its headliners.

There only obvious overlap in the headliners so far announced for the capital’s version of the mini-fest is Free Love, although Warmduscher, who were forced to cancel for Glasgow, also appear on the bill this time around.

Beak>, BC Camplight and Boy Azooga are among the other big names (well, big if you’re a regular 6music listener) who join a lineup of over 40 acts, which will also include sets from local acts such as Quiche, Rachel Sermanni, Super Inuit and Hamish Hawk.

Unlike the sprawling Great Western, the scaled-down Edinburgh version – named after the seminal Delgados album – will focus on six venues centred around the Queen’s Hall, the nearby King’s Hall, and four stages in the Summerhall complex.
