Glasgow has launched a campaign to make the city the top music tourism in the UK.

The ‘Glasgow: Music Nonstop‘ scheme, run jointly by the city’s marketing team and VisitScotland, will showcase gig venues and record shops as well as music-themed hotels and guided tours of the most famous as well as lesser-known areas related to the local scene.

The People Make Glasgow website hosts ‘Glasgow: Music Nonstop’ which suggests a 48 hour music-themed city break, for which the marketers have teamed up with rail operator Avanti West Glasgow.

A promotional video, soundtracked by Coatbridge indie act Voodoos, has been made to accompany the campaign, which will link with events such as TRNSMT and Celtic Connections as well as shows at the Barrowland Ballroom, the Hydro, and King Tut’s, and draw from the city’s musical heritage focusing on current acts like Franz Ferdinand, Belle and Sebastian, Mogwai and Chvrches, as well as looking back to the likes of Lulu, Donovan, and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, via Simple Minds, and Travis.
