goNORTH, the Inverness-based seminar and showcase series, has opened applications to play at the 2013 event.

The thirteenth incarnation of the industry will again take place in Inverness city centre on the 5th and 6th of June – just in advance of the neighbouring RockNess festival that weekend.

Over 50 upcoming Scottish acts will be selected to showcase at this year’s edition, along with a selection of artists from outwith the country.

The organisers have also changed the submission process, replacing the much-derided SonicBids process with a partnership with BandWagon, which, according to organiser Shaun Arnold, “will make the application process completely free for artistes”.

There is also a film strand to the event, with entries welcomed in the general Wide Open category as well as Extreme which is looking for submissions based around unusual, challenging or dangerous sporting activities.

Musicians and filmmaklers have until Friday 1st April 2013 to apply, at WWW.GONORTHFESTIVAL.CO.UK
