The Orb and Gang of Four are among the musical legends joining local talent including Aidan Moffat & RM Hubbert on the bill for this year’s Paisley Spree Festival.

And Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath fame will also appear diuring the week-lomng event in October – in conversation and promising the inside story of his career as one of heavy metal’s most influential figures.

The guitarist will appear at Paisley Town Hall on Friday 12 October for the show – ‘in conversation’ with one-time Kerrang! editor Phil Alexander.

The festival, run by Renfrewshire Council, takes place from 12th to 20th October.

Other acts on the nine-day bill include Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, ex-Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flur, Big Minds (comprising members of Big Country and Simple Minds), Tracyanne & Danny plus The Pastels, The Leisure Society plus Duke Special, Vieux Farka Touré, and The Wandering Hearts.
