The successful TRNSMT festival is to be extended to a two-weekend event in 2018 – with Liam Gallagher confirmed as the first headliner.
The Glasgow Green festival – seen by many as a replacement to T in the Park – has further distanced itself from the Kinross event in terms of format, with the announcement of its spanning two weekends – on 29th June – 1st July plus 6th and 8th July 2018.
However, the lineup so far is sticking very much to the tried-and-tested formula which saw Kasabian, Radiohead and Biffy Clyro perform over one weekend at the city centre venue last July.
Liam Gallagher – younger brother of High Flying Birds frontman Noel – was rumoured to be on the bill for last year, before controversial Britpop combo Radiohead were confirmed in his place.
Gallagher will perform on Saturday 30th June, with fellow British stars Courteeners, Wolf Alice and J Hus also on the bill.
Also confirmed for the festival are The Stereophonics, who will headline on June 29th.
Tickets for the festival go on pre-sale from Wednesday 29th October – more at www.trnsmtfest.com
