Glasgow act French Wives have been announced as the winners of the inaugural Scotsman Radar prize. The band were chosen from over a hundred entries as the top up-and-coming act in Scotland. That’s them, captured by Euan Robertson, picking up their prize amid a shower of vintage champagne. Runners-up were I Build Collapsible Mountains and Bronto Skylift.
The five-piece will among other prizes get a full day’s recording at Chem 19. Unfortunately for the band, they are already on tour and, as they’ll be in Wick (!), will miss out on the chance to play at the Radar night on 13th November at Edinburgh’s Electric Circus. However, Bronto Skylift will join Mitchell Museum and Capitals on the bill.

(You can hear the band’s single, ‘Welcome, In The Light’, here on Jockrock).
