Franz Ferdinand have announced two new members following the departure of guitarist Nick McCarthy.

The now-quintet Instagrammed (if that is a thing): “”Here we are under a bridge in Glasgow, with new members Dino Bardot (on the left) and Julian Corrie (on the right),” adding”
See you in N. America.”

Julian Corrie aka producer Miaoux Miaoux has joined on guitar and synth, while former 1990s man Dino Bardot has also been added to the lineup, whose next Scottish date is at the Belladrum Tartan Heart festival in August.

The band will however firstly begin a North American tour with the new line-up on May 21.

Corrie, under his Miaoux Miaoux monicker, has worked with the likes of Bele and Sebastian, Chvrches, Malcolm Middleton, The Filthy Tongues, and most recently Ultras as a producer or remixer. He has also three albums under his belt, including 2015’s School of Velocity and its predecessor, the SAY-nominated Light of the North – both released on Glasgow indie Chemikal Underground Records.

Bardot was previously a member of V-Twin, and then Franz labelmates 1990s, an act which at one point included Alex Kapranos and Paul Thomson in its lineup.

The bridge in question is that big flyover between Anderston Cross and the Broomielaw.

Founding member Nick McCarthy left the band after 14 years in July 2016, with the band at the time confirming that he wouldn’t be taking part in either the recording or touring of their next album. He has since released a debut album with his wife Manuela Gernedel, under the name Manuela.
