Edinburgh’s Forest Cafe has received a blow in its efforts to remain in its Brsto Place premises. The venue, which is currently hosting a variety of popular festival shows, have heard from PricewaterhouseCoopers – the administrators for Edinburgh University Settlement, who were declared bankrupt and forced into administration last October. – who have said they would rather leave the building empty than receive rent to help pay off the creditors they are supposed to be representing.

Forest volunteer (and Reader in Residence at the Scottish Poetry Library), Ryan Van Winkle, said: “I was shocked to hear a PWC representative say they were unwilling to enter negotiations about the Forest remaining in Bristo Place. :Even more surprising was their insulting assessment that the Forest is “more hassle than they’re worth.”

The Forest has successfully raised over £30,000 to secure its future since the building’s owners were declared bankrupt and forced into administration.
