After seven years of hosting the HomeGame event in its home town of Anstruther, Fence Records are to take it ‘away’, to a location that makes Anstruther look like a seething metropolis
The Away Game will be taking place over the weekend of 24th – 26th of September 2010, on the isle of Eigg, in the Inner Hebrides.
Eigg – with a population of just 70 people (plus, as Fence point out, “a lot of sheep, some cows, and a big bastard bull called Dougald”), has, they say, been chosen thanks to its “strong sense of community” – as well as their apparent liking for a party.
As with any ‘Game, home or way, it will be hosted by by King Creosote and The Pictish Trail. The main difference from the Homegame will be that camping will be pretty much necessary due to the lack of B&Bs, though this will lend itself to campfire singalongs, as well as a nicely weatherbeaten complexion at the end of the festival.
Limited to 150 camping tickets (which include chartered ferries from Arisaig on the Friday), these will go on sale on Monday 24th May, at 12 noon – on the Fence Records website, www.fencerecords.com, priced at priced at £90.00 each.
