2019’s Electric Fields festival has announced that it is to move site – to Glasgow.

The three day event – scheduled to take place from July 4th – 6th – has for the past five years been situated at Drumlanrig Castle, in the south-west of Scotland, and has had the likes of Primal Scream, Jesus and Mary Chain, and Frightened Rabbit among its headliners.

However, due to what the organisers refer to as “rising costs of producing outdoor camping festivals and ongoing logistical & transport challenges,” the festival is to move to the SWG complex in Glasgow’s Finnieston area.

This means that Metromony, Spook School (pictured), Kyle Falconer out of The View, Sleaford Mods, Malcolm Middleton, Fat White Family, Vaccines, Frank Turner, Futureheads, plus the 40-odd other acts already announced, will decamp to the city centre at the start of August.

The new site has, they say, “excellent transport links from around Glasgow and further afield”. They also point out that it will allow a slightly greater capacity.

The event will otherwise go ahead as planned, with the same full lineup (plus a few new additions still to be announced), on the same dates, with all the same stages (outdoors and indoors), Our Kids Electric arena, plus street food & drink.

All ticket holders should have already been contacted but any queries can be directed to [email protected]
