A new music-based film festival is set for Scotland, with the first event – a Trojan Records documentary – taking place in December.

Doc’n Roll Film Festival Scotland launches next month with the Scottish premiere of new music documentary ‘Rudeboy: The Story of Trojan Records’, taking place at Edinburgh’s Picture House cinema.

Followed by a Q&A by BBC presenter Vic Galloway, the showing on 15th December, is hoped to be the first of a series of regular events. Doc’n Roll already has hosted events in other UK cities, with Badly Drawn Boy and Ella Fitzgerald among the subjects covered in other films.

There are no other dates fixed in the calendar for next year but it is hoped that other films covering the likes of The Wedding Present and Sepultura will get screenings in Edinburgh and Glasgow, with Dundee and Inverness also under consideration.

Rudeboy, which was a sell-out during its six screening run in London this month, features many reggae legends including Lee “Scratch” Perry, Toots Hibbert, Ken Boothe, Neville Staple, Marcia Griffiths, Dandy Livingstone, and Pauline Black.
