A bizarre plea has gone out to the people of Aberdeen and the surrounding area for help in a singing World Record attempt in the city.
The catch is that all the participants in the carol singing extravaganza planned for this weekend have to be called “Dave”. The song to be sung is, inevitably, ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, and the gathering of Daves, Davies and Davids (aged over 7), takes place at 3pm on Sunday 24th at The Castlegate.

VisitAberdeen’s Chief Executive Steve Harris said: “We’re hoping that Davids of the area will help us to set this world record on Sunday 24th on the same day as the Christmas lights are switched on in Union Street. Santa hats are optional!” Six verses will be sung, and hymn sheets will be provided.
