Blues Brothers legend Dan Aykroyd is one of the names getting behind a new release planned to publicise environmental charity Human Survival Foundation.

U.F.O – Unidentified Federal Organisation is a concept album concept album instigated by Biggar-based musician Jim Duncan, who was approached by the charity to write some music about social injustice and the environment.

This manifested itself as a double CD concept album/stageshow with a storyline and characters.

Duncan has attracted a range of performers to contribute, including some lesser-known Scottish musicians as well as some big name performers, most notably Blues Brothers legend Dan Aykroyd, a long-time UFOlogist.

Also lined up to take part are acclaimed bluegrass guitarist David Grier, Dweezil Zappa (son of Frank and respected guitarist in his own right), ex Marillion/Fish/John Martyn guitarist Frank Usher, and fiddler John McCusker, known for his work with Roddy Woomble as well as his current post in Mark Knopfler’s band.

All the profit from the album sales are going to environmental charities WWF, Wateraid and Marine Conservation Society as well as a quarter share to Music Events Clydesdale for a new grass roots UK music project designed to take live virtual reality music experiences and simple scenery experiences like hill walking and beach visits to people who are housebound, particularly with a focus on people with autism.
