Blantyre-based studio Chem 19 has been granted funding from Creative Scotland to design and deliver a brand new engineering and production course.

Taught at the Chemikal Underground-owned recording and rehearsal facility, ‘SoundLAB’ will bring a practical introduction to the job of a studio engineer, as well as help develop the technical knowledge a young engineer will already have. The 9 -10 months course will comprise roughly 17 fortnightly sessions lasting 4 hours each, starting in October. Heavily subsidised, it will only cost a total of £50.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 25 and resident in Scotland. No formal qualifications in sound engineering are necessary ,although they should be able to demonstrate a basic understanding and some practical experience in the field. More at www.chem19.co.uk.
