Edinburgh’s Cabaret Voltaire venue is set to reopen, following an extended closure for refurbishment.
The Blair Street club’s relaunch on May 10th promises a rather different setup and look following its takeover by the G1 Group. The all-over refurbishment promises a new ground floor bar (with new beer list as well as coffee and food) and natural light via some “newly discovered windows”.

The bar is set to host vintage fairs and popup shops as well as hosting DJs, while the venue has improved sightlines and a new sound system.

Also, the establishment will now be open in the afternoons – hours are noon – 3 a.m. seven days a week.

The club opens on Thursday May 10 with iAM, Beta & Kappa‘s weekly electronica/bass party, and clubs are a major part of the lineup with the likes of Yogi Haughton and Alex Metric lined up to appear.

Live music is still on the Cab’s programme with a series of free gigs planned. The first is on Friday 11th May with Miniature Dinosaurs, People Places Maps and Run/Lucky.

It’s followed on Saturday 12th by Tango In The Attic, Emelle and The Machine Room.

The following weekend, Friday 18th May sees The Marvels, Miasma and Common Wolves play a free show.
Saturday 19th has DARC‘s EP Launch (£5 entry), and Fri 25th sees another free show with Cancel The Astronauts, The Asps and Rolled Up 20’s.
