Scotland’s songwriting initiative Burnsong has announced The Gathering 2012 – the annual invitation for artists to submit new songs with a view to selecting the best writers to join the UK Songwriting Festival for a week of intensive support and tuition.

The workshops will see Bath Spa University, the home of Europe’s only Masters degree in songwriting, bring tutors including Joe Bennett, Boo Hewerdine, Jez Ashurst, Andy White and Ivor Novello-nominated Snow Patrol collaborator Iain Archer, to Scotland for the first time
They will host a five-day songwriting ‘boot camp’ in Galloway in August,. At the end of the course the participants will then, perform their new material at live shows at Bladnoch Distillery.

Submissions will be accepted until noon on Saturday May 12th. Burnsong seeks brand new songs with a distinctly Scottish flavour, inspired by the content, subject matter, interests and concerns expressed in the work of Robert Burns.

Scottish-based songwriters should upload up to two tracks to Burnsong Soundcloud DropBox at http://www.soundcloud.com/burnsong, ensuring that your submissions are private.
