Music social night (and organisation behind the Wide Days music conference) Born To Be Wide is to host a series of five events for young musicians and aspiring music industry types.

Off the Record is open to 14-25 year-olds, and will take place across Central Scotland over the next nine months.

The events will feature figures from the music business who will present seminars, workshops and advice sessions aiming to give a grounding in the biz we call music.

The first in the prolonged roadshow takes place at Musselburgh’s Brunton Theatre on Saturday 5 October (in partnership with East Lothian’s Youth Music Forum, ElJam) and will cover Gigs, Recording, Promotion, and Releasing Music.

Speakers include Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway as well as representatives from KFM Records, Aberdeen’s Lemon Tree, The Electric Circus, EmuBands) and Verden Studios.

With admission set at £2 and including lunch and free EmuBands compilation into the bargain, booking one of the limited spaces in advance is recommended. See www.offtherecord.me or visit the Brunton Theatre box office.
