A campaign has been launched in aid of Robbie Cooper – drummer in Dundonian post-rockers Laeto, as well as one of the percussionists for LuckyMe group American Men.
Robbie has at the age of 34 years old contracted a rare form of cancer, and while he is upbeat about things (compiling a blog on his condition as well as trying his hand at stand-up comedy) does require assistance.
Donations will, says fund organiser Jon Thompson, help in “making his life as comfortable as possible and will help enormously with the many high costs of treatment, supplements, travel, special dietary requirements, and other necessities not covered by the national health service.”
The former member of Magnetic North Pole and Neurola has seen his plight rally together various members of the indie community from his former base, as well as those scattered around the world, to contribute to the fund. There are also plans for a compilation of Laeto music, while a forthcoming compilation from former label 2MF of reworked Chopin pieces which will feature among others Miaoux Miaoux, will see his profits donated to the fund.
The band’s third album is currently available for free so if you like what you hear then perhaps the money you might have spent on the download could be treated as a fund donation.
