The Scottish Alternative Music Awards, an annual event originally set up by students from the University of the West of Scotland, has announced details of this year’s poll. The poll, now in its third year, culminates with a show at Glasgow’s Garage on Thursday 1st March. The gig will feature live appearances from Fridge Magnets, Vukovi, and Bwani Junction.
Voting in the seven nominated categories closes at 9pm on Monday 27th February at 9pm – visit officialsama.co.uk

Not to be confused with the above, The Scottish New Music Awards will take place later in the year, on September 2nd at Glasgow’s Classic Grand. There are a mind-boggling 27 categories in the ‘Industry’ section, but a more manageable 15 under ‘Music’, which is now accepting submissions to be put to the vote.
