Indie label Lost Map have announced a music festival on the Hebridean Isle of Eigg. Howlin’ Fling – the name may be related to the breezy conditions, or maybe founder Pictish Trail’s death metal leanings – will run from 18th – 20th July next year.

THe lineup is as-yet unconfirmed, but the point has been made that with members of the same organising team behind Fence Records’ Home Game and Away Game, acts of the same calibre and stature of Django Django, Jon Hopkins, Gruff Rhys, British Sea Power and Human Don’t Be Angry could be expected.

The event will include ferry travel from the mainland to a festival that starts on the Friday evening, all day saturday, with Sunday culminating with a singsong beside a bonfire. Also available as well as bands and DJs over two stages: hikes up Eigg’s “glass mountain”, the Sgurr, and trips to Eigg’s white sand beaches.

Tickets for the mini-fest – which has obtained support from Homecoming Scotland 2014 – are being made available in batches, with some still left at the Lost Map online shop.
