Perth’s annual celebration of American roots music, Southern Fried, celebrates its eighth year, with the announcement of its lineup for the event, taking place in Perth Concert Hall around the city from Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August.

Punch Brothers, Rhiannon Giddens, McCrary Sisters and The Fairfield Four headline, while an Outdoor Stage, an all-day rockabilly event, free gigs in city centre venues and a programme of themed films showing throughout the weekend.

Other attractions include an all-women celebration of the songs of Dolly Parton, plus, Champion Doug Veitch in what’s billed as his first Scottish gig in 30 years.

Red Sky July, Boogalusa and The Chaplins are among those performing on the outdoor stage on the Saturday while free at The Twa Tams on Friday is local lad made beardy, Dave Arcari.
