Celtic rock legends Big Country are to play at Palmerston Park in Dumfries, in support of a very different seminal guitar band.
Status Quo will headline the show at the Queen of the South ground on June 5th.

Big Country have previously played in Dumfries at the Big Burns Supper in 2014, as well as performing along the road at the Wickerman festival later the same year.

The gig sees yet another large scale pop act arriving at one of Scottish football’s outposts, a trend started by The Who at Parkhead in the 1976, and repeated more recently, usually involving Elton John. However, this is the first rock gig on this scale for The Doonhamers, doubtless inspired by the new astroturf pitch’s more forgiving nature.

In other fitba/opo crossover news, Sir Tom Jones will play at the home of Queens’ promotion rivals, Falkirk, on August 1st.
