The Scottish Music Industry Association is to offer free membership to anyone involved in the music business.

At XpoNorth in Inverness, Dougal Perman, Executive Chair of the SMIA, announced that the organisation tasked with representing and developing Scotland’s music industry is now offering a new basic level of membership – free for all and open to everyone involved or interested in music business in Scotland.

The introduction of free Basic Membership has been made possible through the support of Creative Scotland, with the SMIA having joined the Creative Scotland Regular Funding Network for 2018–2021.

Basic Membership of the Scottish Music Industry Association entitles members to:

Access the SMIA’s learning resource library
Access to curated research report library
Participate in SMIA research
Book workshop places
Apply to Music Business Model Innovator (MBMI); a new business development programme for music companies launching later this year
Apply for tickets to MBMI events
