The Scottish Music Industry Association is to introduce a new Advisory Group and is looking for music industry professionals from around the country to join and help shape the SMIA and indeed the future of music in Scotland.

Consisting of representatives from different sectors of the music industry, it will include artists, their managers and agents, events representatives, festival organisers, media, artist managers, publicists, publishers, promoters, and representatives from labels, studios and venues.

The intention of the new group is to give the SMIA a range of perspectives from these organisations and the sectors in which they are active.

Meeting twice per year in two different locations (most likely to be Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen or Inverness), the Advisory Group will be chaired by a member of the SMIA Board and will provide the chance for participants to give their opinion on various matters throughout the year, and vote on motions.

As well as offering the chance to shape the future of the SMIA and music business development in Scotland, there will be other benefits such as attending the Scottish Album of the Year award and other events.

Anyone interested in joining the new group should send a CV and covering letter to [email protected] by July 19th. Full details can be found at the SMIA website.
