Dealing with Brexit, exporting music, and preparing for success with advice from the people behind chart-topping acts are among the topics to be covered a series of online seminars organised by The Scottish Music Industry Association.

Throughout June, the SMIA is hosting a series of free-to-attend online events; exclusively for SMIA members – but it is currently free to join the organisation.

There are five seminars:
Brexit: Impacts on Scotland’s Music Industry (Tuesday June 8th, 16:00 – 18:00)
Three industry experts detail their own their experience of the impacts to the music industry caused by Brexit and offer advice on mitigating the problems encountered.

Brexit: Moving Forward (Thursday June 10th, 16:00 – 18:00)
Drawing from a recent SMIA recent research project which looked at 11 possible business development opportunities in light of Brexit for Scotland’s music industry.

Music Export Offices: Models for Scotland in partnership with EMEE (Monday June 14th, 16:00 – 18:00)
Looking at the SMIA’s Scottish Music Export Office Feasibility Study with representatives from the European Music Exporters’ Exchange.

Showcasing Scotland’s Chart Success in association with Born to Be Wide (June 22nd, 16:00 – 18:00)
Advice from a panel featuring members of the teams behind Mogwai and The Snuts’ rise to the top of the UK Album Chart.

The SMIA Members’ Summit (Thursday June 24th, 16:00 – 18:30)
Inviting all SMIA members to look ahead as well as back to the past year, with an invite to bring up the most pressing issues and which areas the SMIA should focus on in the year ahead.
