Edinburgh’s annual Hidden Door festival has invited musicians – including bands, singer-songwriters, electronic music producers, solo musicians, music collectives and composers – to apply to perform at this year’s 10-day festival, which takes place in an as-yet undisclosed location in Edinburgh from 9 – 18 October 2020.

As per previous years, the secret space will be transformed into a pop-up festival site with several live music stages alongside theatre, film and performance spaces, plus a variety of art exhibitions and installations.

In the past years of Hidden Door’s existence established acts such as Young Fathers, Anna Meredith and Idlewild have performed, while the event has also hosted early live appearances by then up-and-coming artists such as Sacred Paws (pictured) and Bossy Love.

Hidden Door began in 2014, installing itself in the abandoned Market Street vaults to run a 9-day arts festival focused on showcasing local creative talent. In 2015 a hidden courtyard behind Kings’ Stables Road was the venue, and 12,000 visited the festival there the following year. The 2017 incarnation took place in the old Leith Theatre, now an established music venue proper.

Acts of any genre interested in performing can find the application form and other paperwork at hiddendoorblog.org.
