Dave Hughes releases an album, Seven Songs, which includes a total of (yes) 7 tunes – 6 originals, and a cover of a tune by his contemporary, Roscoe Vacant, entitled ‘Help Save The Youth of Cumnock and Doon Valley’.

Spectorbullets release their first single, ‘Mayakovsky it Ain’t (Chaos It Is)’, to give it its full title, on Monday September 6th on the Scottish-based Mayakovsky Produkts label. An album is scheduled for later in the autumn.

Paolo Nutini has been announced as headliner for the Loopallu festival, which takes place in the palindromic highland town of Ullapool. Nutini joins other big-name acts on the weekend of 17th-18th September including The Magic Numbers, Idlewild, Turin Brakes and Aberfeldy.

Come On Gang! release a single, ‘Fortune Favours The Brave’, on September 10th. They launch it with a show at Edinburgh’s Caves the same night, with Found and Jesus H Foxx) also on the bill. The single is the first to be taken from their forthcoming album and will be released as a free download with a remix by HaHaHa.

Back to Glasgow this week for an appealing 4-band bill at Stereo on Friday 10th. Local newbies Turning Plates, ‘indie stalwarts’ How To Swim, the Scots-Swedish combo Social Services, and the whole hog, Scandanavian-wise, touring Danes Slaraffenland.
