Across the gig map this week, everything’s piled up at the weekend like a broken Etch A Sketch.

First of the week is The View, at Dumfries’s Venue.

In Glasgow on Thursday Bella Union signing BC Camplight is at The Hug and Pint.

And on Friday, festival season gets under way with Brew at the Bog, up Inverness way, with the likes of Idlewild, C Duncan, Roman Nose, Paws, Adam Stafford and Spinning Coin among the bands playing on the 3rd and 4th.

On terra firma, in Dundee to be exact, spiffing punksters Sink Alaska play Conroy’s Basement. Just along the way, in Dunfermline, at PJ Molly’s… not the biggest of venues for a gig by The Happy Mondays. (Also, weirdly, Bez is at Dundee’s Buskers the following night). The View are just up the road at Rothes Hall (in Glenrothes, for avoidance of doubt).
In Edinburgh on Friday the Hidden Door festival continues – Jane Weaver, Delta Mainline and Law Holt among the attractions.
In Glasgow on Friday, Dr (to you) John Cooper-Clarke is at the O2 ABC (he’s also at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh the following night).
Also on Friday, at the Hard Rock Cafe, The Sugarhill Gang (and on Saturday, they’re at Edinburgh’s Liquid Room.

In Aberdeen, a great lineup from Inter esting Music on Saturday 4th at Tunnels. The highly-tipped Ela Orleans, similarly highly-regarded Apostille (featuring Michael Kasparis out of Late Night Foreign Radio) and Liberation.
Also on Saturday night, The View’s magical mystery tour continues, with a set at Fubar in Stirling. Back in Edinburgh at Hidden Door, Rozi Plain.

Finally, on Sunday, Titus Andronicus (the US punk band, not the English play) are at Summerhall in Edinburgh, while their spiritual forefather (possibly) Adam Ant is at the RCH in Glasgow. And blues monster Dave Arcari is at Big Sparra Vinyl (which sounds more like a record shop) in Ayr.
