Musical education collective have announced an seminar event in Dundee aimed at developing music in the city.

‘Sound of Dundee: Re-imagining Our City’ will run in conjunction with Place Partnership at the McManus Museum & Art Gallery on Thursday 14 April with the aim of exploring approaches to strengthening the local music scene.

The panel-based format will feature speakers from a cross-section of the music community including an ‘in conversation’ with former songwriter Gary Clark, who since his days as frontman of chart act Danny Wilson has worked with stars including Natalie Imbruglia, Melanie C and Lloyd Cole.

A discussion will follow, also featuring local musician Katie Lynch of duo ST MARTiiNS and DF Concerts’ Dave Corbet.

The event is part of the city-wide work being undertaken by Dundee’s Place Partnership team towards producing recommendations for the development of music in the city. The project launched in February with the Dundee Music Survey, which has received almost 600 responses to date. The questionnaire will be live until Monday 18 April, and there will be an opportunity to complete one at the event.

Tickets are priced at £5 and are available from www.borntobewide.co.uk.
