the 2009 jockrock poll

Here are the top 10s as selected by jockrock with some assistance from the itm? writer pool. Now, your chance to agree, or more likely, not. See our top 10s as 'suggestions', if your favourite isn't in the list, instead cast your vote for them in the text box. We'll tot the votes up and let you know your winners sometime in January.

Don't forget to enter your email address otherwise your vote won't count - multiple votes will be ignored. This is for checking purposes only - tempting though it is, we're not gathering email addresses (if you want to subscribe to our newsletters then just send us a mail)

De RosaSurely indisputable that Prevention was one of the all-time album releases so it's perhaps not just sentimentality, following their recent split that's propelled the Lanarkshire quintet to the top place in our vote.

single:The Second Hand Marching Band - A Dance To Half Death EP

Second Hand Marching BandNot only chosen because there's around 22 of them at the last count, the collective's brand of jouous folk combines airy singalong tunes with kitchen-sink instrumentation . It's actually a 6-track EP too, so value for money with more than the outstanding title track to recommend it.

Live act: Le Reno Amps

We Were Promised JetpacksBig favourites around jockrock and indeed itm? for ages, they have become a compelling live act with raucous singalong tunes, quality banter and perhaps most importantly, a guarateed top night out

1. Peter Parker

3. Drums of Death
4. Burnt Island
5. Esperi
6. Popolo

newcomer:Peter Parker

Peter ParkerThis year's winners are of course new (ish) though their members have been spotted in various other acts over the years. Whatever. With some scintillating live performances and single 'Swallow The Rockets' getting rave reviews, there could only be one winner of this year's title.

1. Stereo
2. 13th Note
3. Nice’n’Sleazy
4. King Tuts
5. Tunnels
5. Cabaret Voltaire
7. Barrowland
8. Captain’s Rest
9. ABC
10. Electric Circus

Venue: Stereo

Last year's winner, Glasgow's 13th Note, has been a regular venue for is this music/ gigs (I'm not sure if you know but that site is affiliated to this one)
Anyway, with those shows more irregular we've taken in shows at plenty of other venues.. and perhaps like the enue it's taken the crown from, Stereo boasts a decent bar with veggie food , a top-notch sound system downstairs, and an increasingly-good lineup of touring and local bands playing there. What more could you want?

1. Wickerman
2. T in the Park
3. Belladrum Tartan Heart
4. Rockness
5. Live At Loch Lomond

Festival: Wickerman

Wickerman2009 has seen many festivals go into hibernation or perhaps permanently vanish, to the point that we have whittled it down to a top 5 (rather than have a foolish-looking top 7 or include festivals we'd not actually visited... and i"m not sure that Tigerfest, Celtic Conoections or The Edge should really be regarded as ;festivals in the traditional sense).

Which leaves Wickerman at the top of our personal tree once again... of course, if you know different, you know what to do!
